Country music’s rising star, Danielle Bradbery, has seen much success since her start on The Voice. At the time, she was the youngest contestant to ever win the competition. She has seen radio success with singles like “Heart of Dixie”, which peaked at #16 on the Billboard hot country songs chart. She truly embodies the meaning of #APATHWORNWELL. And if you didn’t know, here’s a not-so-secret; she’s a proud Texan--a slight clue of her heritage subtly lies with the little tattoo of the lonestar state on her wrist. Her favorite part about growing up in Cypress, Texas? “I loved the tough feel of it. I loved growing up being outdoors and learning to get my hands dirty. I was the type of kid that ran around everywhere with no shoes on, I was barefoot till sun down.” She reminisces on that and the famed Texas Friday Night Lights, a favorite hometown tradition. “We all looked forward to [the game] after school, and after games the whole school ended up at a Whataburger”, she says of her High School school days down south. Also, if you find yourself in Cypress, Danielle asserts “the food never disappoints! I definitely got spoiled with good food in and around my hometown of Cypress.”

With that much appreciation and love for heritage, the influences are boundless and the inspiration never in short supply. The roots of western culture had a major impact on her. “America’s first cowboys came from Mexico from what I’ve read and my grandmother and great grandmother on my mom's side are from Guanajuato, Mexico. I grew up around the Mexican culture, from her speaking to my sister and I in Spanish, to the cooking, and the music!” How does that translate into her everyday life? “ I take a lot of that history and what I grew up around and put it into my everyday life and style.”

Her love for western style steeped in Texas flare is obvious in both her music and fashion. About her cow(boy) girl boots, they are an extension of her spirit, a certain superpower that makes her feel “empowered… like a boss.” Something we can 100% relate to. From Ranch Road Boots, she rocks the Kendall Black boots and if you ask her how to wear them, well, it all depends on the occasion. “ I like tucking [them] in my jeans, but if I’m outside on a ranch, I prefer a bootcut jean. Also a little black dress with boots to jazz it up.”

Danielle has managed to translate all of this into a thriving career as a musician in Nashville. To our surprise, prior to her life in the limelight she was a little shy.   The bold, badass songstress we see today was partly driven out by her mom. “My mom was actually the one that signed me up [forThe Voice] without me knowing!” That might’ve felt like an impossible feat at the time, but Danielle says “I did leave my hometown to pursue a music career, which is risky and you never know what can happen, [but] I am living proof of someone that did it while being scared”.

With her life in music city and her family’s support back home in Texas, Danielle recently released a new single, Girls In My Hometown. This single, she says,  “hits on the idea of leaving your hometown and wondering about old memories and people. I connected [with this notion] immediately and I knew if people heard that, they could relate too because it could mean anything. You don’t have to leave town to go on a singing competition to make that line relate to you! It could be anything, leaving town to pursue any dream that may be. I just know these feelings are real and I know I'm not the only one that thinks about it.”

It wasn’t always easy, Danielle warns. “I’ve had to grow up really fast from the day I left high school.” She inspires young women to do it anyways, whether your fear is leaving home or something else. To chase the dream regardless of the fear. She tells us “I had no idea if I was doing it right, but that’s the cool thing about it.  It doesn’t have to be right, just be you and don’t let people steer you in a direction that isn’t you. That goes for any career choice!”. With so many young followers who look up to her path for inspiration, she says she “hope[s] to encourage young women to have a voice and be braver with their voice, speak up and be strong.” Leaving where she was from to pursue her dreams was far from painless, so how did she do it? “Faith and adrenaline gave me the courage despite the fear. They are my words to live by I guess you could say.”

With the current landscape, she hasn’t really been able to tour much. But, she (and we!) are thankful she’s able to create and release music to connect with her fans during this time. She’s been brainstorming and planning to release more new music. “I’m very excited for everything to come and to show everyone what I've been working on.” And in the meantime, she says, “ we’re all in this together, we got this!”.
